Profile
Josh has been playing the drums since the age of 4. He has had the opportunities to play with many great musicians at various venues and events; gaining experience as a session drummer in both live and studio settings. These have included being part of a team of session musicians, through to stepping into an established band at short notice for a gig.
Josh believes in working hard, both in preparing and in delivery. He is quick at learning and developing parts; something that he have been commended for. Josh is constantly striving to develop his skills further and has previously taken drum lessons.
He has experience of working with clicks and backing tracks; including working with live visuals running from click. Being equally as confident at maintaining consistent tempos without a click.
Josh is a friendly, polite and well mannered person. He gets along well with other people; having good communication skills and enjoying working as part of a team to complete tasks. An example of using these skills is when he drummed at the Bradford City Wide Christmas Celebration at Bradford Cathedral in December 2009; Josh had never played with the rest of the band before, so had to work alongside them and communicate well to decide on song arrangements and to allow the celebration to run smoothly.
He used to help run a youth club, where he used good social skills to interact with the young people, but also had to show responsibility. Another example of using these skills is whilst giving drum lessons at a youth group, as part of a music project, where young people got the chance to take 10 weeks of music lessons. In the process they learnt 2 songs, which they then performed and recorded with other young people who had learnt other instruments.
Josh is a volunteer for a local organisation called Vision. In 2009 he spent a fortnight visiting several high schools, taking music lessons, in which he led drum workshops, which involved giving clear instructions to a group of young people as well as demonstrating tasks to them. During this fortnight Josh was part of one of several teams and one of one hundred volunteers. This meant that he had to be good at communicating, not only in the team, but with other volunteers too.
Josh is well organised and good at planning, enjoys problem solving and working to deadlines. He have used these skills learn songs on time and to a high standard for sessions and to undertake administrative tasks, such as diary managing.
He is conscientious and reliable, and whether in voluntary work, part time work or in academic work, is regularly praised for working hard, listening well and carrying out tasks as requested.
Josh is a trustworthy person; when drumming for a local band (Rufus Garside) he was responsible for holding the key to a local community centre and was in charge of opening up and locking up before and after practices and performances.
